Thank you to all the attendees that stopped by to visit Stella Technology during the recent Redwood MedNet “Connecting California to Improve Patient Care 2014” Conference & Interoperability Exhibition.
During this year’s conference, industry experts explained the current status of health information technology in California, national road maps for standards, interoperability and patient safety, as well as emerging tools for better physician and patient engagement.
Key highlights from the conference included:
- California Connects demo showcase of various connectivity use cases between a variety of players (public HIEs, government agencies, patients and more). One of those demos, supported and sponsored by Santa Cruz HIE and San Diego Health Connect, showcased how patients can have access to their complete health record via the Blue Button as they transition from one care setting to another.
- Presentation and panel sessions on the various interoperability initiatives, standards and tools in the industry, including the OpenHIE platform (Open Health Information Exchange), the new CSD profile (Care Services Discovery) from IHE (Integrating the Healthcare Enterprise) to support various patient scheduling workflows, and the FHIR (Fast Healthcare Interoperability Resources – pronounced “fire”) specification, the latest standard by HL7 for exchanging healthcare information via RESTful web services. FHIR seems to be getting a lot of attention from the healthcare community today, as it holds the promise of greater interoperability in the future.
Furthermore, we received great feedback on our Caredination platform, specifically around how it can not only help a provider team coordinate their patients’ care better, but also how those patients can be fully engaged in taking better care of their health.
It was a pleasure to connect with many of our customers and industry friends during the event, and we look forward to participating and seeing everyone next year.
